Running a store on Shopify and looking to increase sales through smarter marketing? The Facebook pixel is probably one tool for you. This is amongst the most powerful tools that Facebook has created for advertisers and entrepreneurs. Here I will show you the simple steps to adding Facebook Pixel to your Shopify store without editing any code.
Step 1: Find and Copy your Pixel code
- Go to Events Manager in Facebook. and click on the “Set up” button.
- On the next screen, click on “Use an Integration or Tag Manager”.
- Then click on the “Shopify” logo and follow the instructions on screen.
- This will provide you with the Pixel ID and instruct you on where to insert this in your Shopify admin panel.
Step 2: Upload Shopify Products to Facebook
Note: If you have more than one catalogue, Facebook pixel or app, you may be asked to associate your Facebook pixel to your catalogue. To do this, go to the your Facebook Catalogue Manager, select your Catalogue and click “Connect Catalog to Event Sources”. Then select the Pixel or app that you want Facebook to match to the selected Catalogue.
Before starting, check that your Shopify collections and products are marked as available on sales channels. Here’s how.
When that’s done, navigate to “Sales Channels” within your Shopify admin panel, and add Facebook as a sales channel. Approve Shopify’s request to connect to your Facebook business page. Facebook will now verify your account information. When this is done, simply enable Facebook checkout. Done! Your Shopify products are now uploaded to Facebook.
Step 3: Check that your Pixel is working
Go to the Pixels tab in Facebook Ads manager and click on “Send Test Traffic”. If its status changes to Active (this might take a few minutes to update), then it means the Pixel code has been installed correctly.
Alternatively, you may also use the Chrome browser (download link) and install the Facebook Pixel Helper extension. The Facebook Pixel Helper is a great free tool that helps you check that your Pixel is working correctly, and to troubleshoot any errors. You can also use it to find out if your competitors are using Facebook pixel on their websites!
Once you’ve successfully installed the extension you’ll see a notification that the plugin has been added to Chrome and a small icon will show in your address bar. Click the Pixel Helper icon in the address bar and check the popup to see any pixels found on that page, and whether they’ve been set up successfully.
If the Pixel Helper finds a pixel on your site and there are no errors, then congratulations! You’re all set and ready to start multiplying your Facebook ad success.
If the Pixel Helper could not find a Pixel or reports an error, then visit the troubleshooting guide.
